Beating the Flu This Winter

As the nights turn cooler and the days shorter, Winter seems to be coming into full swing…and with it, the dreaded flu! We all do our best to try and keep away from this dreaded disease, but sometimes it can get the best of us.

So, what can we do when we feel the first signs of a runny nose this Winter?

  1. Up the fluids

It’s important for your respiratory system to remain hydrated, so to flush out any infection make sure you drink as many liquids as you can. Drink water, juice or tea consistently.

  1. Get plenty of rest

In order to give your body its best chance at a speedy recovery, put your feet up and relax. Yes, you heard us right: we’re giving you permission to nap! 

  1. Take a hot shower

A hot shower will not only ease your aches and pains, but the steam will also help with congestion and inflammation. If you’re not feeling up to a shower, breathing in eucalyptus oils will do the same trick.

  1. Eat foods high in vitamins

Fruit and vegetables such as lemons, oranges and garlic are all high in vitamin C which will boost your immune system and get you back on the mend. Maybe consider a vegetable soup as a perfect way to get a whole bunch of vitamins all at once – a real superfood kick to get rid of that pesky flu.
